(NBC)- A dramatic rescue in Fort Worth, Texas was caught on police body camera as officers and bystanders worked together to save a baby trapped under a car after a violent crash.
Authorities say a mother and her infant were ejected from their vehicle during a wreck on the side of a highway. When officers arrived, they discovered the baby pinned underneath the overturned car. Body camera video shows officers and witnesses rushing in, straining to lift the vehicle as one bystander shouts, “Keep moving, keep moving!” Seconds later, the infant is pulled free — at first motionless.
An officer begins performing CPR, urging, “Come on!” Moments later, the sound everyone was praying for — the baby’s cry.
The child was then handed to the mother as relief swept over the group. Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes called it “nothing short of a miracle,” adding that the baby is expected to make a full recovery.
Officials say the quick teamwork between first responders and nearby good Samaritans saved two lives that day.
