Fort Valley Woman Dies In Apartment Fire
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- A deadly fire claimed the life of a Fort Valley woman this morning. According to the Fort Valley Police Department, the fire started at 11:00am at Valley Pines Apartment Complex on Brooks Blvd. Fire fighters entered apartment 10 where they found 65-year-old Charlie Rogers unresponsive.
Rogers was pronounced dead on the scene by the Peach County Coroner’s Office. The fire was contained, and no one else was injured.
“Investigators from the Fort Valley Police Department as well as the GBI are currently investigating the cause and origin as well as the cause of death. There is an autopsy being conducted. I don’t want to speculate on the cause of death until an autopsy has been completed,” said Lawrence Spurgeon, Fort Valley Public Safety Director.
The Fort Valley Police Department said they are deeply saddened by this tragic loss of life, and their thoughts and prayers are with the family.
