Fort Valley Resident Says Plan for Median On State University Drive Threatens Tradition

Fort Valley Mayor John Stumbo says, the plan to build a median on State University Drive will begin in January 2012. This project has been in the works for six years.

He says it’s a simple plan to beautify the street in front of the university, but former city council member, Marvin Crafter is devastated by the project.

“History means a lot more than you can put in terms of beautification than you can put in terms of dollars, and cents.”

When he says history, Crafter is referring to homecoming. He fears it would be impossible to continue the homecoming parade tradition.
