Fort Valley Fire Chief Antonio Woodard laid to rest
His wife of 12 years, Korina Woodard, says her husband wasn't only a fire chief but a leader and friend to everyone he encountered.

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Former Fort Valley Fire Chief Antonio Woodard was laid to rest at Willow Lake Memorial Gardens Tuesday in a service that drew family, friends, residents and officials from across Middle Georgia.
His wife of 12 years, Korina Woodard, says her husband wasn’t only a fire chief but a leader and friend to everyone he encountered.
“He was a great husband,” she said. “He was my best friend, a great brother, great uncle and son. He wasn’t just Fort Valley Fire Chief; he was so much more.”
Korina says her husband made his mark on the city.
“He served and loved everybody,” she said. “He treated everybody the same. There wasn’t nothing he wouldn’t do for anyone. Even though his work is done here on earth, just know that man earned every jewel in his crown.”
Fireman Otis Daniels says he will miss his beloved friend and bother.
“I did my time, he did his time, and we’re here to celebrate a good man, and I will always love him,” he said.
Gary Lee, a longtime friend of Chief Woodard, says his actions spoke volumes to the man he was.
“He was something special, as you can see,” he said. “Look how many people are here to represent him, from all different parts. That tells you something about what kind of man he was.”
