Forsyth Police respond to false bomb threat at apartment complex

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Police evacuated several residents early Monday morning after an anonymous 911 caller falsely claimed to be armed and in possession of explosives at a local apartment complex.

According to a news release, the Forsyth Police Department responded at approximately 2:38 a.m. on June 30 to Forsyth Gardens Apartments, located at 500 Cabiness Road, following a report of a possible violent situation.

According to police, the caller told 911 dispatchers he was inside the apartment, had injured someone, possessed a bomb, and intended to harm responding officers. Officers arrived, evacuated nearby units, and established a secure perimeter around the apartment in question.

Police were able to make phone contact with the residents inside the targeted apartment, who complied with instructions and exited peacefully. Authorities confirmed that the residents were unharmed and unaware of the threatening call.

No injuries or explosives were found during the investigation.
