Forsyth man sentenced for financial fraud

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Forsyth man has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to two counts of passing fraudulent financial instruments.

G.F. Peterman III, acting U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, says 60-year-old Carmen Deck Trevitt Jr. was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.

Trevitt admitted to filing two fake tax claims with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on Sept. 23, 2011 and Nov. 11, 2011.  He tried collecting around $645,000 in outstanding tax liabilities.
