Forsyth Main Street to host ‘Shop with a City Hero’, help provide gifts for local children

Forsyth Main Street Manager, Kemie Childs, says Forsyth Main Street is working with the City of Forsyth and C.A.R.E. Cottage for their annual fundraiser. 

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Forsyth Main Street is hosting ‘Shop with a City Hero‘ to help provide local children with gifts for Christmas.

Forsyth Main Street Manager, Kemie Childs, says Forsyth Main Street is working with the City of Forsyth and C.A.R.E. Cottage for the annual fundraiser.

Childs say last year they raised nearly $10,000 and this year the goal is $15,000.

Jingle N Mingle and Candy Cane Crawl are the two fundraisers that benefit ‘Shop with a City Hero’.

Jingle N Mingle is a family friendly event on December 7 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Childs say there will be activities for everyone such as:

• Santa Claus
• The Grinch
• Kids Zone
  • Letters to Santa
  • Ornament decorating
  • Christmas crafts
• Christmas vendors
• Food Truck
• Music and family fun

The Candy Cane Crawl will be December 7 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is a time to support local business while shopping. Local restaurants will also be participating and offer unique drinks for attendees.

If you are unable to attend the events, you can donate online. Donations are accepted through December 13.

Childs say there are more events happening in Forsyth that are open to the community.

The Hometown Holidays Parade is December 5 at 7 p.m. The New Year’s Eve Ball drop and Block Party are December 31 from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. There will be live music from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and a DJ from 10 p.m. to midnight.
