Forsyth looking for new city administrator

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -The city of Forsyth is looking for a new county administrator.

Former administrator Thomas White stepped down at the end of July.

Janice Hall is filling the role temporarily, and says the city is working with a regional commission to possibly change its charter.

The goal would be to change the government’s operation and the position of a city administrator to a city manager.

Hall adds there isn’t a timetable as to when all of this happen.

White was appointed in 2011.

He also served 30 years in the Army National Guard.

Some council members want to have a city manager instead of a city administrator.

Mayor John Howard says White’s position didn’t fit in with the plan.

“The combination of what we had working for us already was not a good mix,” said Howard.

“And that’s what really brought on the decision for us to go in a different direction,” added Howard. “But I can’t say how he would have came out were we to have restructured the government and he still be here.”

Howard also said he hopes the city can move forward.
