Forsyth changes form of government
FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Forsyth is operating as a new form of government.
The council-manager style takes the mayor out of the chief executive officer position for daily operations. The change went into effect about three weeks ago. The city manager is now in charge of running the city’s departments. Mayor John Howard explained he still has power. He can vote, veto, and control the budget.
“We’re taking the politics out of the day to day operations. We’re taking the politics out of the way we run things. We’re more efficient now. We’re moving smoother and all of the council is getting along with each other too,” said Mayor Howard.
Mayor Howard adds he wants to focus on building relationships with state lawmakers for his vision for the city. Janice Hall is the new city manager.
