Former NBA Star Opens School in Macon
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgia teenagers who have dropped out of school or are at risk of dropping out now have a chance to earn their diploma, thanks to a former NBA star.
Magic Johnson’s Bridgescape Center celebrated its grand opening Friday morning on Northside Drive in Macon. It’s located in the Ashley Park Office Complex.
The school is a part of the Provost Academy of Georgia and will offer a blend of online learning with one-on-one and small group instruction available for students who may require it.
“They also have Georgia-certified teachers available to work with them,” says Executive Director of PAGA, Monica Henson. “We have guidance counselors, we have a principal, we have a safe, secure environment and we’re very, very excited to be offering another choice to the families of Bibb County and the surrounding area.”
Magic Johnson Bridgescape Centers are currently operating in Ohio, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
Additional Georgia locations are planned for Augusta and Savannah during this school year.
