Former Fort Valley Mayor Pro Tem LeMario Brown enters Senate District 18 race

 Former Fort Valley Mayor Pro Tem LeMario Brown announced his candidacy Monday morning for the recently vacated Senate seat in Georgia’s District 18. 

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Former Fort Valley Mayor Pro Tem LeMario Brown announced his candidacy Monday morning for the recently vacated Senate seat in Georgia’s District 18. 

According to Brown’s campaign release, he is prioritizing issues that include tackling the affordability crisis, supporting farmers and small businesses, and expanding broadband and healthcare access in the district. Brown brings six years of experience from the Fort Valley City Council, where he served as Mayor Pro Tem.

“I’m proud to announce my candidacy for Georgia Senate District 18 representing Peach Macon-Bibb, Houston, Upson, Crawford and Monroe Counties,” said Brown. “As a farmer and small business owner, I don’t have the luxury of ignoring rising costs- and neither do our families. I’m running to take on the affordability crisis and deliver real relief for working people not only in our district but, throughout our state.”

Candidates interested in joining the race must qualify by Wednesday at 1 p.m. The last day for voters to register for the special election is Monday, December 22nd. Early voting will begin on December 29, with the special election scheduled for January 20.
