Floyd Griffin announces run for newly created District 149
Floyd L. Griffin, former Georgia State Senator and Mayor of Milledgeville, announces his intent to run for the newly created State House District 149.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Floyd L. Griffin, former Georgia State Senator and Mayor of Milledgeville, announces his intent to run for the newly created State House District 149. The district was created after a judge ruled the state’s congressional and legislative boundaries violated the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Griffin says he feels the district is important for African American voters in this district, especially after what he called widespread voter suppression attempts in 2020.
“I’m excited about the potential to serve this district and assure all of its communities have all it needs, including easy access to voting,” he said.
The new district covers a significant portion of Baldwin County, a part of Bibb County in East Macon and a section of Jones County.
