Florida man who ran Georgia pill mill sentenced to prison
BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) – Federal prosecutors in coastal Georgia say a Florida man convicted of running a so-called pill mill has been sentenced to serve more than three and a half years in prison.
Prosecutors say 45-year-old Marc Victor Frazier was sentenced this week to serve three years and eight months, followed by three years of supervised relief. He was convicted for participating in a conspiracy to unlawfully dispense controlled substances and launder money.
Prosecutors say Frazier owned Apex Health & Wellness Inc., a sham pain management clinic in Brunswick, between November 2011 and April 2013. Prosecutors say customers generally paid between $200 and $300 in cash for prescriptions for pain medications with no legitimate medical purpose.
Dr. Paul Spencer Ruble worked at the clinic and pleaded guilty last month. His sentencing is pending.
