Law enforcement says Flock cameras are boosting crime solving efforts in Middle Georgia
New technology is helping law enforcement agencies solve crimes much faster.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – New technology is helping law enforcement agencies solve crimes much faster.
Law enforcement officials say Flock cameras are helping with various crimes, but the top ones include stolen vehicles, finding individuals with warrants and locating missing persons.
The cameras have been installed in Monroe County since November 2022 and have made a big impact in solving several cases.
“It’s always alerting us on stolen vehicles, people with warrants,” Captain Jarrad Duncan with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said. “We’ve made a couple of hundred cases I would estimate.”
According to Captain Duncan, the cameras have helped cut down on manpower that would typically be required for investigations.
So, how do they work?
“When a car passes it, it photographs the car, the tag of the vehicle, and identifies any distinguishing features,” Captain Duncan said.
Even if there are no specific details about the car, the cameras can narrow it down to characteristics like a bike on the roof or a sticker on the window.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office will soon be installing Flock cameras. Sheriff Joel Cochran says 16 cameras will be installed in the next 30 days.
