Five Bibb County Schools on America’s Healthiest Schools list

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Five Bibb County schools will be honored Thursday at the America’s Healthiest Schools Southern Regional Celebration.

The schools were selected based on its efforts to include healthier meals and snacks, getting students to exercise, and empowering leaders to be healthy role models.

Heritage Elementary, L.H. Williams Elementary, Matilda Hartley Elementary, Veterans Elementary, and Vineville Academy are among the 31 Georgia schools that made the 2017 list.

At Thursday’s event, The Alliance for a Healthier Generation will show how leaders are creating a culture of health at their schools.

The 323 schools chosen nationwide are awarded at the Bronze, Silver, or Gold level.

The Bibb County Schools that made the list all received the Bronze level.
