First Responders Train for Disaster

Local first responders spent the day training for disasters. A group with Mid Georgia Ambulance created a tornado scenario. The simulation involved a daycare center with a large amount of casualties.

According to training coordinator, Mark Bandy, disaster preparedness involving children is a concern nationwide. He says Friday’s exercise focused on addressing children and disasters.

Medical responders had 7 minutes to find the two most injured people in the dark. Bandy says after 9/11, Mid Georgia Ambulance tries to practice disaster training several times a year.
