First Macon maker festival features 30-foot fire breathing robot

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 30-foot tall fire breathing robot visited Macon this weekend.

It was part of the first “Make-End: Maker Festival.” Makers are people who create original works of art that can range from industrial to artisanal. Makers from across the country met in Tattnall Square Park to show off their creations.

One couple from Austin, Texas built a robot drummer because they couldn’t find someone to play the specific sound they like. They said all makers have something in common, even if their crafts are completely different.

“We look at the world around us and we look at all the resources available and instead of just saying okay, that was designed as an automotive relay that makes your window go up and down, you can say that’s an automotive relay that has the potential to power our robot drummer,” Hilary Thomas-Oliver said.
