First Lady of Georgia Sandra Deal Visits Houston County

A couple of Houston County schools got a special surprise this morning. First lady Sandra Deal was in town to present the National Blue Ribbon Award. Shirley Hills Elementary School was Deal’s first stop, there she presented the ‘ Blue Ribbon Award ” to the school. Afterwards she stopped by North-Side High School to talk about the importance of education. Deal stopped by some of the classrooms at Northside High and spoke with several of the students. Her message to them was to dream big, work hard, and never give up.

“We want them to dream of the future they can have and to reach for it and not to give up to soon and settle for minimal jobs that don’t pay much and will never give them much of a future, said First Lady of Georgia Sandra Deal “.

The ” National Blue Ribbon Award” honors schools that are either high performing or have improved student achievement to high levels.
