Fire Prevention Week: Smoke detector safety
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Fire Prevention Week is October 5-11th.
It’s a time for fire fighters to go into the community and education people on fire prevention. This year’s theme focuses on the importance of smoke detectors.
“There are a lot of fires in our town and county where people don’t have a smoke detector or they forget to replace the batteries so they’re dead and they don’t work,” said Lieutenant Ellen Kicklighter, The Fire Safety Educator for The Macon-Bibb Fire Department.
The Fire Prevention Week Opening Ceremony will be October 6th at The Macon Mall.
October 16th will be a live Fire Training for Middle Georgia State College.
October 11th will be a Smoke Detector Blitz with The American Red Cross in four different areas of Macon.
