Fire Investigator: East Ridge Apartment Blaze Doesn’t Look Suspicious

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A fire that damaged two apartment units off of Gray Highway on Friday night, does not appear to be suspicious, but is still being investigated.

“I think it’s safe to say it’s not arson,” said Macon-Bibb Fire Lieutenant Ellen Kicklighter.

The Macon-Bibb Fire Department was dispatched to the East Ridge Apartment complex on Crissy Drive around 10 p.m.

When crews arrived the lower apartment unit was engulfed in flames and the blaze was spreading. Two units were heavily damaged and at least two families have been displaced.

“It looks like it started on the bottom floor, in the living room or dining room area,” Kicklighter said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No one was injured in the blaze.
