Fire in East Macon leaves 52 people displaced from homes

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- This morning, a fire at an East Macon apartment complex leaves dozens homeless.

Fire Chief Marvin Riggins says crews responded to The Cliffs Apartment Complex just after 3:30 a.m.

Riggins says much of the top floor was damaged and the roof is gone.

52 people (15 families) have been displaced from their homes.

Everyone got out safely and no one seriously injured.

The Red Cross and the apartment complex are working to help the families affected and relocate them.

What caused the fire is still being investigated.
