Final Days of Georgia Music Hall Winding Down
The final days of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame are quickly approaching, and dozens of visitors are taking advantage of the museum while it is still open in Macon.
Dianne Thomas and her family traveled two hours to visit the museum, and she says the trip was well worth it. She and her kids came to visit her great-grandfather’s exhibit.
“It’s sad that my children won’t be able to come again when they are older and appreciate more,” says Thomas.
Today, the hall was full of first time visitors. “This is our first time here, and you know when we heard it was closing it was the first thing we wanted to do is bring and show them,” says Tonya Martin, who brought her young kids to the museum.
With a few just a few days remaining until the museum closes pieces of Georgia’s rich music history have already left. The rest of the collection will make its way to the University of Georgia.
Thomas says several of the museum’s exhibits seem incomplete. Several tourists also say they are still shocked the museum will close in just a few days.
“It’ll put a lump in your throat. I mean people don’t realize until they do come see how rich this was..still is really; it’s just going away,” says James Davis.
The final day to visit the museum is June 12th.
