FEMA stages at Robins Air Force Base for Hurricane Irma
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Robins Air Force base is being used as a staging area for FEMA. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has 4 different task forces on base at the moment.
There are 320 task force members total, all from Tennessee, Virginia, New York and Pennsylvania. They are using the base to set up and prepare for their next mission.
Members from New York and Virginia are heading out to Puerto Rico Friday night to assist in rescues.
“Once we get there, we’ll report to command,” said Director of New York Task Force 1, James Yakomovich. “We’ll find a place to set up our boat,base of operations, then we’ll get a mission assignment then we’ll go to work.”
Most of the task force members just got back from helping out in Texas during Hurricane Harvey.
Tennessee and Pennsylvania task forces are on stand-by at Robins AFB until their next mission.
