Update: Family Loses Home Ahead Of Christmas

JACKSON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Monroe County family who lost their home recently, could have something to celebrate this holiday season as the community comes together.

We previously reported that the family of six lost their home on Big Buck Trail in High Falls on Thursday.

The family was out shopping when a neighbor saw the fire and called 911. The Red Cross stepped in, and is now providing housing for the family temporarily.

Although, the housing has an expiration date, so the community is coming together to provide clothing and somewhere for the family to stay until they find a permanent solution.

Fire officials say Tthe Christmas gifts inside of the home at the time of the fire are not damaged thanks to being behind a closed door.
