Families in need receive new sports equipment for youth athletes

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A team effort between the Macon Sports Hall of Fame, Macon Housing Authority, and BSN Sports is providing equipment for young athletes.

BSN Sports is donating a couple thousand dollars worth of equipment to football players and cheerleaders with the Middle Georgia Raiders.

The kids are getting footballs, mouth pieces, cheerleading mats, and more.

“We believe just because you don’t have the means, you shouldn’t have the best quality equipment. These kids get high quality footballs and they’re getting mouth pieces and things like that, that maybe they wouldn’t be able to afford. Which is why we’re doing this and bringing a little Christmas joy,” community volunteer Jeff Batcher said.

Batcher says he also set up a go GOFUNDME for the more expensive items like helmets, practice jerseys, and cheerleading uniforms.
