PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Inside the Baby Barn, fairgoers can see farm animals being born right before their eyes. The live birthing center and nursery features mother cows preparing to give birth and newborn calves taking their first steps.

“You come in, you will see some mama cows, their dairy and hopefully have a chance to see some babies be born,” said Addie Hodges, marketing and communications specialist for the Georgia National Fairgrounds. “If you’re lucky enough. We don’t know the right timing on it.”

The Baby Barn allows visitors to walk through at any time to see what’s happening in real time.

“You can walk through, you can come at different times to just see,” Hodges said. “As you come in, you will just see the mama cows just hanging out there, and we’re just waiting to see if we see a calf.”

During our visit Thursday, a baby calf was born, an emotional and exciting moment for those who gathered to watch. It’s a hands-on educational experience that connects families to Georgia’s agricultural roots.

The Baby Barn is open daily during the Georgia National Fair in Perry. The Georgia National Fair runs through October 12 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. You can purchase tickets here.
