Face painting tips for Halloween

Owner of Facial Expressions, Kristyn Moore, says you always want to begin with a clean face. Moore says to use warm water and a soft sponge when face painting.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Halloween is approaching and there are many fall events happening throughout the month of October. With a full calendar of festive events and a month of costume wearing, one Middle Georgia face painter is offering tips to help parents.

Owner of Facial Expressions, Kristyn Moore, says you always want to begin with a clean face. Moore says to use warm water and a soft sponge when face painting.

Moore says she uses Snazaroo paints and an angled brush. When looking for paint, Moore advises against using acrylics or paints with oils.

“I definitely recommend it being labeled as professional grade face paint,” says Moore. “Acrylic paint is definitely a no-no. It dries the skin up, it gets all cracked. Your little ones will be miserable if you use the acrylics.”

Moore recommends not getting close to little one’s eyes with these products and just use eyeshadow instead.

If your child moves a lot, Moore recommends laying them down while painting their face.
