Authorities urge public to RUN, HIDE, FIGHT amid active threat near Atlanta campus

ATLANTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT/AP) — Authorities are responding to an active shooter situation at the CVS located at Emory Point, near Emory University’s Atlanta campus.
Emergency alerts issued Friday afternoon urged people in the area to “RUN, HIDE, FIGHT,” and to avoid the vicinity until further notice. The warning remains in effect as law enforcement investigates.
There is no immediate word on injuries or arrests. Campus police and city emergency responders are on the scene.
Emory University has not yet released a formal statement. People in the area are urged to remain indoors and await official updates.

Staff at a deli near campus locked the doors and hunkered down inside. Brandy Giraldo, General Miur’s chief operating officer, said staffers inside heard a string of gunshots.
“It sounded like fireworks going off, one right after the other,” she said.
Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr said he is “horrified” by reports of an incident at Emory University and is praying for the safety of the campus community.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Carr said his office stands ready to assist law enforcement partners “with whatever they may need.”
