Ellis Receives More Endorsements Heading into Runoff Elections
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Runoff elections for the new Macon – Bibb consolidated government are in less than a week, and mayoral candidate C. Jack Ellis is getting some last minute endorsements.
State Senator David Lucas, as well as current Bibb County Commissioner Lonzy Edwards, and Macon City Council President James Timley all announced they were supporting Ellis as Election Day is right around the corner.
Ellis says the goal is to make sure more people get out and vote to start bringing the community together.
“We will rebuild our city, we will restore hope and confidence in our citizens and we have much work to do. We are up to the task, we are capable of doing it. I ask all of you to join us, let’s move forward, let’s build the kind of Macon that all of our citizens will be proud of,” Ellis said.
State Senator David Lucas says it’s time for the community to come together and take a stand.
“It’s time for us to stand up, it’s time for us to stand up, it’s time for us not to be told who are elected officials are going to be, but we the people ought to make that decision,” Lucas said.
Lonzy Edwards followed by saying now is the time to make a difference.
“We need to make sure that we have somebody in office with Jack’s vision for what this community can become,” Edwards said.
Ellis is also getting an endorsement from the Central Georgia Federal Trades and Labor Council.
They presented a $1000 check for the Ellis campaign.
Again, the runoff elections for the new Macon – Bibb consolidated government in on October 15.
