FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A woman and her dog were found dead at the scene of a house fire Monday night, according to Coroner Leon Jones.

Jones says the woman has been identified as 73-year-old Deloris Barron. Lead Investigator Captain Kyle Murray with the Macon-Bibb Fire Department says crews were called to a home in the 2200 block of Price Drive at 11:18 p.m., and could see heavy flames coming through the roof when they arrived. Some firefighters began trying to put the flames out, while additional crews went in to search the home.

Capt. Murray says in a statement, they found Barron in a bedroom in the back of the house. She was declared dead around 12:40 a.m., according to Coroner Jones.

Investigators have determined that the fire started in the living room, and the cause appears to be accidental.
