Eisenhower parkway property owners want five millage increase for revitalization
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and Macon-Bibb County Firefighters were among the crowd listening to what they need to do to help revitalize that area of the city.
The property owners say they want to create a business improvement district from the I- 475 to I-75 entrances on Eisenhower Parkway.
The property owners are planning to ask commissioners for an additional five mill on the eisenhower corridor property taxes for improvements, like landscaping and more deputies patrolling the area.
“Let’s improve this area so people feel safe, and they want to come shop on the Eisenhower corridor,” says Hull, Storey, Gibson Companies, Regional Development Officer, Mark Stevens. “Because, the Eisenhower corridor still has more retail sales than any other area in the county.”
Stevens says Eisenhower Parkway businesses earn $450,000,000 per year in retail sales.
He added, they plan to have a resolution to present to the commisioners by early 2015. If the additional tax is approved, Stevens says they could raise about $450,000 a year.
