EF-1 tornado rips through Cordele

According to the Crisp County Sheriff's Office, 36 homes were impacted with 19 sustaining major damage.

CORDELE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –  The National Weather Service confirms an EF-1 Tornado with a max speed of 100 mph touched down in Crisp County Wednesday morning.

According to the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, 36 homes were impacted with 19 sustaining major damage.

The Sheriff’s Office says the total path of the twister was more than six miles long.

The Public Information Officer for the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, Haley Wade, says most of the damage occurred in Cordele along North Cedar Creek Road, the scenic route area and Landing Road.
