Eatonton’s 2nd Annual “Not Your Mama’s Garden Tour” Set for May 11
EATONTON, Georgia (OACA) – Just in time for Mother’s Day, Oconee Area Citizen Advocacy is set to host its second annual “Not Your Mama’s Garden Tour” on Saturday, May 11, in downtown Eatonton.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., tour goers will be able to take in five exquisite garden sites around downtown Eatonton ranging from the formal and pristine, to the do-it-yourself, lived in garden.
In addition to the sites on display, an array of unique, vintage garden ornaments will be available for direct sale at each of the locations. “We want this tour to continue to live up to its name,” said Oconee Master Gardener Rae Wade, a major creative force behind the tour this year’s and last. To create these artistic treasures, Rae is teaming up with Joy Hancock, another Master Gardener who is known in our area for her most whimsical and unusual garden ornament designs.
Tickets are $15 and will be on sale beginning Wednesday, April 10 at the Citizen Advocacy office located at 118 North Wayne Street (in downtown Milledgeville across from ACE Hardware) or by calling (478) 452—6968. Tickets will also be available at each site the day of the tour. For a map of the garden locations and for more information, visit www.oconeeareacitizenadvocacy.org.
Citizen Advocacy is a 30-year old community organization that recruits advocates to protect and speak up for people who have been marginalized because of a label of developmental disability. The relationships, which are independent of but supported by the office, are usually long-lasting and aimed at making our communities more welcoming and inclusive.
