Dukes of Hazzard Reunion Expected to Generate $1 Million for Middle Georgia

BYRON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The “Dukes of Hazzard” reunion drew thousands and generated nearly a million dollars for the Middle Georgia area.

Hazzard County traveled to Peach County for a three-day weekend filled with the show’s original cast members, race cars and concerts.

As of Sunday, organizers estimated the “Dukes of Hazzard Georgia Reunion, Classic Car Show and Music Festival” attracted almost 60,000 people and produced nearly a million dollars in economic activity.

Lines wrapped through the old Middle Georgia raceway, where fans waited for hours, to take pictures and meet with fan favorites like Catherine Bach who played ‘Daisy Duke’ and John Schneider who played ‘Bo Duke’.

“I’m going to make sure that sign every single person’s autograph and make them happy that they came over here to say ‘hi’ to me,” Bach said.

“The helicopter rides, the car show, the popcorn, this whole weekend is aimed at letting the entire family have fun,” Schneider said, “it feels like the county fair.”

Wally Cliett drove in from Augusta to meet the cast.

“Thirty something years later, seeing the cast still here, it was good times back then,” Cliett said, “it was a good family show and it meant a lot to a lot of people.”

The event featured 200 vendors and the entire “Dukes of Hazzard” cast. The show aired from 1979-1985.
