MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A new bowling alley is coming to downtown Macon and it has a little twist.

Earlier this week the Macon-Bibb County Planning and Zoning Commission approved the construction of a 6-lane duckpin bowling alley on Second Street.

Duckpin bowling uses smaller pins and smaller bowling balls than traditional ten pin bowling.

Planning and Zoning Executive Director Jeffrey Ruggieri says the new facility will bring more entertainment to downtown that’s appropriate for all ages.

“It’s a little more than bars and restaurants now,” Ruggieri said. “We have a lot more entertainment options , and it shows investors that it’s safe to come downtown and invest in Macon and do something maybe a little out of the ordinary and be successful at it.”

The bowling alley will be located between Barefoot Tavern and Ocmulgee Brewpub. It is expected to open late next year or early 2025.
