DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Dublin’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is just a couple of days away!

The city has been hosting events throughout the month of March to celebrate the holiday. In fact, the festival is the longest St. Patrick’s festival in the state of Georgia with more than 40 events taking place throughout the month.

The biggest event of the festival, Super Saturday, is happening this weekend, and it promises to be a fun-filled day for the whole family. The celebration is considered the culmination of all the events that have been taking place for the last couple of weeks. The day will include the Leprechaun Road Race, Arts and Crafts Festival and parade.

According to Miriam Lewis, the Executive Director at Visit Dublin, the St. Patrick’s festival events are a big economic boost for businesses.

“St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin sets the tone for the local economy, for our boutiques, for restaurants,” Lewis said. “It’s like another great holiday for us.”

Local establishments are gearing up for the influx of people expected to attend the festivities. Sea Shells Seafood Bar and Lounge in downtown Dublin says it’s expecting lots of people this weekend, and they’re ready.

“We made sure we got plenty of groceries, because we know they’re going to want to eat, and they’re going to be all downtown shopping, looking around, wanting something to eat, and we’re here open, ready,” Front House Manager Raquetta Fluker said.

Even gift shops in Dublin are seeing a surge in business as St. Patrick’s Day t-shirts fly off the racks. The owner of Hello Sunshine, Kim Cook, says Dublin is a small town with a big heart, which inspired her new t-shirt design this year.

“We donate part of our proceeds into local charities here locally,” she said.

The fun starts early on Saturday, with the first event happening at 8 am.
