Dublin Local Businesses Thriving

DUBLIN, Georgia (41 NBC/WMGT) – In the past several weeks, the city of Dublin sent out several news releases promoting new business ribbon cuttings and grand openings in the area. 41 NBC spoke with Matthew White, the Membership and Marketing Coordinator at the Chamber of Commerce in Dublin, about the recent spike in growth and what local businesses can look forward to in the future.

“The fact that people aren’t bickering over power and money and doing what they can do to make this place better,” White said.

That’s the common theme for local businesses that decide to open their doors in Dublin. The city has been a great area for small business development. White has been in Dublin for about 5 years and he’s seen nothing but good things since he’s lived there.

“Now when you go to the downtowns of certain areas it’s a ghost town in a lot of places and ours isn’t like that, theirs everything and they are constantly giving incentives for folks to move into these buildings.”

White told 41 NBC that just in this year alone he’s been to more grand openings and ribbon cuttings than in the past year whic shows great growth for the Dublin area.

“It has everything you want, it has shops, it has restaurants,it has some things to do, but without the crazy traffic, without too much hustle and bustle.”

Georgeann Hoyt, Owner of Emma Laura Graceful Gold, has had her store for the past 30 years and thinks that the success of Dublin is rooted in its small town feel.

“I love being in a small town, because I’ve watched my customers, grow up and I’m on my second and third generation, so I have a feel for what people want,” Hoyt said. “I think that Dublin does have a great possibility for growing because the medical community is strong, a lot of businesses are thriving off of other businesses in the area.”
