Dry Weather Is Temporary

MACON, Georgia. (41NBC/WMGT) – Enjoy the next couple of days of dry weather because rain returns late Thursday.

Today.

The sun finally makes an appearance after a wet weekend and beginning of the work week in Middle Georgia! After seeing over an inch of rain fall across Middle Georgia over the past three days, we will be dry this afternoon. Under a mostly sunny sky I do expect temperatures to get into the upper 50’s. Yesterday afternoon we were dealing with a thick cloud cover which led to the high temperature only being 46° in Macon. The average temperature for this time of year is 60° which is where we will be close to this afternoon. Overnight low temperatures will dip below the freezing mark tonight under a mostly clear sky. Make sure you are taking the precautionary steps to protect your animals and home against the frigid temperatures.

Tomorrow.

Expect more sun on your Wednesday afternoon as temperatures once again return to the upper 50’s. Clouds will begin to build in during the early evening hours setting us up for a partly cloudy night across Middle Georgia. Temperatures will be right about normal with overnight low temperatures in the upper 30’s.

Extended.

The dry period does not last long as rain is set to return to Middle Georgia late on Thursday evening with the bulk of the rain falling on Friday. An area of low pressure will scoot to the east from the plains and will give us another chance for soaking rain. As of this morning (12/11/18) we have received 2.63″ of rain for the month at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport. That is over double the 1.31″ normal for this point of the month. With more rain forecasted I expect us to continue to separate ourselves from the average precipitation for the month.
