Drunk Driver Crashes into Perry Group Home

According to police, Michael Walton of Perry drove off of highway 41 North, and crashed into The Genesis House, a group home for young boys in Perry.

It happened Thursday night around 8:30. The car drove into the front of the house, and demolished the bathroom. While all the boys were in the house at the time of the wreck, no one was injured.

Bishop Milton Wynn, who runs the home, says the crash sounded like an explosion. “Preparing for bed about 8:30 and we heard this loud explosion, which we actually thought it was a bomb. Ah, come to find out minutes later, seconds later, it was a car that had crashed into the building,” said Wynn.

Walton is charged with open container violation, weaving and failure to maintain lane, and DUI.
