Driver dies in Monroe County car accident

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident that happened Monday around 7:30 p.m.

A driver of a Chevrolet Lumina was heading south on Smith street, crossed the center line and was hit by a couple in a Ford Freestar.

The Lumina then veered off road and caught fire. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The couple was not injured.

The body of the decease was taken to GBI Crime Lab to be identified.
