Driver arrested after high-speed chase in north Macon

Deputies attempted a traffic stop when the driver of a truck accelerated away, prompting the pursuit.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A wanted driver was taken into custody after leading deputies on a high-speed chase that reached 110 mph in north Macon on August 9, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies attempted a traffic stop when the driver of a truck accelerated away, prompting the pursuit. The sheriff’s office said deputies coordinated to block intersections and deployed spike strips to stop the vehicle.

A deputy then used a PIT maneuver on Coliseum Drive, disabling the suspect’s vehicle. Investigators said the driver refused repeated commands to exit and had to be forcibly removed before being taken into custody.

The driver, Jeffrey Henderson, faces multiple charges, including felony fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, willful obstruction of law enforcement officers by threats or violence, criminal interference with government property, probation violations on two counts, aggressive driving and other traffic offenses.
