Dragon Lady Arrives at Robins Air Force Base

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Georgia -(41NBC/WMGT)- A U-2 surveillance plane arrived in Middle Georgia all the way from California. Engineers at Robins Air Force Base are hoping they can bring the
historic flyer back to life.  The aircraft was shipped by truck to Robins Air Force Base from Air force Plant 42 in Palmdale.

Base officials are hoping to have the plane up and running as soon as possible. The U-2 also known as Dragon Lady sustained damage while undergoing routine maintenance back in 2008.

“What you really got here is a vehicle that has a hydra-cone system on board that burned. And when it burned, it blistered the side of the air craft causing structural damage,” said Colonel Fred Kennedy.

Colonel Tim Molnar said if the U-2 can be fixed, it will be added back to
the Air Forces’s aircraft fleet.
