Dooly County voters elect new sheriff

VIENNA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Dooly County voters elected their new sheriff Tuesday night during a special election.

According to the Dooly County Board of Elections Office, Craig Peavy won with 1,735 of the votes and Thomas Williams got 274 votes.

Peavy was appointed as the interim sheriff after his father Van Peavy, the previous sheriff, passed away in January.
