Dodge County Residents Read Bible from Cover to Cover

EASTMAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — From Genesis to Revelation, Dodge County residents read every word of the Bible this week in the county’s first ever Bible reading marathon.

“I’m just that vessel being used by him, and it’s not about me, it’s about all of us,” said organizer Lydia Daniels.

Daniels said God called her to organize Dodge County’s the reading and she called on the Dodge County Commission. Chairman Dan McCranie says he welcomed the idea.

“Prayers get answered, so the more prayer that goes on, it can’t but help a community,” said McCranie.

It began Friday evening, and for nearly a week, people read aloud on the steps of the Dodge County Courthouse.

“We were out here a couple of days til one in the morning and I’ll tell you it was worth it because people were blessed by hearing the word of the lord, and I was truly blessed,” said Iva Mallory, reader.

It was an event the Dodge County Baptist Association was proud to sponsor because Director of Mission, Mike Grenade, says the Bible’s message is timeless.

“When we read God’s word and we see it applied to the people of Israel and their time. We look at it, and it’s just as real today,” said Grenade.

Daniels is hoping from the words people understand that God is there. She says all you have to do is listen.

“We are all God’s people. He so loved the word,” said Daniels.

Both Daniels and McCranie said the idea came from neighboring Bleckley County who’s held a Bible marathon for years. They’re hoping to make this event an annual tradition.
