State Sen. Larry Walker III (R-Perry) praised the announcement on June 20, calling the investment a “major win for Dodge County and the hardworking Georgians who rely on safe, well-maintained roads every day.”
“These funds will go a long way toward improving transportation safety, supporting economic activity and addressing the wear and tear that comes from increasing freight traffic,” said Sen. Walker. “I’m proud to join Gov. Kemp and my colleagues in the General Assembly to help make sure rural communities like Dodge County aren’t left behind when it comes to infrastructure investment.”
The funding will support the Dodge County Road Improvement Program, which includes three key projects:
-
Paving Bill Mullis Road from Roddy Highway to State Route 87 (3.7 miles)
-
Full-depth reclamation of Milan Eastman Road from State Route 117 to State Route 280 (8.2 miles), addressing damage from heavy freight traffic
-
Resurfacing Zion Hill Church Road from Antioch Church Road to Coody Road (4.5 miles)
By combining these three road segments into a single project, Dodge County is expected to accelerate the timeline by nearly a decade and significantly reduce overall unit costs—ensuring greater impact per taxpayer dollar.
