Discounted wigs give breast cancer patients confidence

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Gloria Marable, owner of Shh! It’s a Wig, offers her wigs at a 30-percent discounted price during the month of October as part of breast cancer awareness.

Betty Ragland is one of her clients and she’s a proud cancer survivor. She’s battled the disease twice, but she said losing her hair from chemotherapy was the toughest part.

“It’s a devastating thing. Without Gloria, I don’t think I could have made it,” said Ragland.

Marable uses wigs to help women battling breast cancer find the confidence they need. She believes if a woman feels beautiful, her strength comes naturally.

“I just think that when ladies are going through a medical issue such as cancer, it is especially important for them to feel like themselves,” explained Marable.

Even after a client has a fabulous new hairstyle, the support doesn’t stop.

“You can just call in here all the time and say, you know, I feel, I’m having a bad day, can I come in,” said Ragland.

Ragland can’t thank Gloria enough for the strength she gave her.

“It was wonderful to have a big support group through Shh! It’s a Wig,” said Ragland.
