FORT VALLEY, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – Robert “Buck” Shannon will serve as the Peach County Sheriff after winning against Ty Ben Matthews.
Shannon was born and raised in Byron. He has been at the Peach County Sheriff’s Office for 28 years.
Shannon plans to fight crime, form a gang unit and a high violent crime unit. Shannon also wants to work on improving mental health.
The newly-elected Peach County Sheriff spoke Tuesday night at his celebration watch party about his supporters and what he plans to do first when he gets into office.
“My first priority is making sure we ‘up’ the staff on employees,” he said. “Making sure we get a hold on crime. Make sure that we work on the crime rates, the violent crimes.”
Shannon’s plan for the future of Peach County includes running things smoothly and continuing to serve the citizens of Peach County. He says he plans to serve the county to the best of his ability.
“Thank you for at least giving me a chance to make this thing right, and do a good job for you,” he said.
