MONICA- Welcome back. Today we have Barbara Boyer, who’s running for Georgia House District 143. Thank you for being here today.

BARBARA- Well, thank you for having me.

MONICA- I’m glad to have you here. It is a beautiful day. I have a few questions for you. First off, what are the main priorities you plan to address if you’re elected, and how do you plan on doing so?

BARBARA- Well, I’ve talked to people in my district many times and to people all over Georgia, actually. And the main problem we have in Georgia is cost of living. I really want to address cost of living. And it starts, I think, from education. We need to work on our education system. We need to bring jobs to Macon. Good jobs will come to Macon if we have an educated population. So that’s where you go back to education. Make sure that our educational system is a strong educational system. We have one of the best education systems in Georgia, but it needs a little improvement. Everything needs an improvement.

MONICA- Okay. And why do you think that you are the best candidate for this position?

BARBARA- Well, I’m an attorney. I’ve been an attorney for 40 years, and I’m also a small business owner, so I understand a lot about small business. I’ve done litigation, and I’m also a mediator. A lot of people don’t know that. But I’ve done mediation since the 1990s. So I think I have a good grasp of what needs to be done in Georgia. And I can work with the state legislature. They’ve done a lot of good things, and I’d like to see things expanded on.

We need, like I said, education in Georgia. And I’ve got a lot of friends in the education system that I’ve spoken to about things that can be done to improve educational system, support the teachers, especially support the parents. I think a lot of, support needs to be, you know, brought back to the communities and, the children starting from the ground up. Or if we have an educated, populace, we will have more, businesses coming to Georgia because they’re going to need an educated workforce, and we need different things, for the students to do.

You know, college education is good, but also technical education where somebody may not want to go to college and they want to, get a job right away, that they have the opportunity to go to a technical institute to learn, jobs. Also, we need to work on regulations and lowering taxes. We lower taxes and lower regulations. Small businesses will succeed in this town.

MONICA- And lastly, what is your reaction to record breaking voter turnout? What do you think that says about the upcoming election and the election cycle?

BARBARA- Well, I think people are very excited about this election for good or bad. And they’re really, you know, worried about the economy. And one of the reasons I think we’re having a big turnout is because, President Trump has asked for people to come out. Usually historically, the Democrats come out and vote early, but because we have such a large number of people coming out, I think everybody’s coming out because everybody’s concerned about the economy. We have record inflation, and that’s a federal problem. And so, people are looking at that, which inflation means that the cost of living has gone up for everybody. Everybody United States is having that problem. So, I think that’s why we’re having a record turnout.

MONICA- Thank you.

BARBARA- Thank you.
