DECISION 2013: Lucas Says She’ll Keep Promises If Elected to District 3 Seat

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — For current Macon city council woman, Elaine Lucas, serving on the new Macon-Bibb Commission would be a new, but old task.

“I know the process… and I’ve read the charter a number of times so I’m well versed in that,” said Lucas.

She believes her experience is key when it comes to electing the best person to represent District 3.

“That’s going to be a real key skill because this government is new and people have been made promises that taxes are going to be kept low or reasonable, and I want to make sure that people actually know what’s going on,” said Lucas.

But she’s not just concerned with the entire county. Lucas says there’s problems that need to be addressed in her district, like drainage issues in Thornton Heights.

She thinks the best way to address the concerns of her constituents, if elected, is to survey the people to find out what they need from the new government.

“I’ll go back as their voice.. and say these are the things that people really want. They’re paying their tax money. They want these things done,” said Lucas.

Lucas has served more than 20 years on Macon city council. Currently she serves on four of its committees including appropriations.
