DECISION 2013: If Elected to District 3, Tripp Says She’ll Work Across the Lines

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Former Bibb County Board of Education member, Terry Tripp, says she knows her experience is what the Macon-Bibb County government needs.

“As a board member I learned so much about how to work about party lines, race lines, to get things done,” said Tripp.

During that time, Tripp prides herself on helping to get the first school built in East Macon in more than two decades.

But, now she wants to serve the residents of Macon-Bibb County’s new District 3 in a different way, as a commissioner. Tripp says the area needs attention.

“The biggest thing is the infrastructure… the roads are horrible… in South Bibb there’s dumping, that’s endangering well water,” said Tripp.

She says beautifying the area can begin with cutting down weeds, and cleaning up empty lots.

Tripp also believes a big challenge for the entire government is going to be budgeting. She believes in going in-depth, line-by-line, and asking questions during the process.

“It’s about working, we’ve got to get people in place that’s going to work hard. It’s going to take a lot of hard work,” said Tripp.

Tripp is a lobbyist for the tobacco industry in the state legislature. She says through her position, she’s helped retain 3,000 jobs in Macon.
